Bio

As a designer and planner, Alihan assists Impact clients by creating innovative maps and data visualizations that offer a fresh perspective of urban and non-urban people and spaces.

Alihan’s nearly two decades of professional experience as a GIS expert is backed by a robust, worldly education. He earned an M.S. in Architecture and Urban Design at New York City’s Pratt Institute; a B.F.A. in Urban Design and Landscape Architecture at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey; and a Certificate in Global Affairs at the NYU School of Professional Studies.

Inspiring the next generation of planners, architects, and engineers, Alihan is an adjunct professor at Pratt Institute and CUNY City Tech. Drawing on his in-depth knowledge of zoning code and regulations, he has developed GIS-based curricula and taught courses. He has also managed public and private development and zoning projects at Environmental Simulations Center (ESC).

In his spare time, Alihan enjoys reading about uncharted geographies, flying drones, building with LEGO, and spending time with his wife, daughters, and dog.
