Ferguson v. JONAH

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Following a three-week civil trial, a New Jersey jury took less than three hours to find New Jersey-based Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing (JONAH), guilty of fraud. The jury determined that the “gay conversion” services offered by JONAH (formerly known as Jews Offering New Alternatives for Homosexuality) were fraudulent. This case was the first of its kind to challenge conversion therapy under consumer fraud laws.
The plaintiffs in this landmark case were represented by James L. Bromley, Lina Bensman and Thomas Kessler (Cleary Gottlieb); David Dinielli, Scott D. McCoy and Sam Wolfe (Southern Poverty Law Center); and Bruce Greenberg (Lite DePalma Greenberg).
