INSIGHT
While common, co-financing the production of motion pictures is a potentially complex process for those outside the industry. In this bench trial, co-financing was a central issue, and it was imperative that the judge understood the different co-financing methods unique to the motion picture industry.
IMPACT
We created icons for each co-financing method and then used those icons throughout the trial as a visual cue to remind the judge how each method worked. Knowing that our judge already understood what equity co-financing and tax credits meant, this tutorial was designed to illustrate how “shared pot,” “split rights,” and “territorial sales” methodologies worked.
