Edwards Lifesciences Prevails in Patent Dispute Over Heart Valves

WILMINGTON, DE – A federal jury ordered Medtronics, Inc. to pay $73.5 million to Edwards Lifesciences Corp. after finding that Medtronics violated the patent on Edwards’ Sapien XT heart valve. The jury determined that Medtronic’s CoreValve line willfully infringed on Edwards’ patent that relates to artificial valves implanted via catheter.
