FTC Can’t Pause Novant’s $320M Bid To Buy NC Hospitals

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Federal Trade Commission lost its bid to block Novant Health from buying two local hospitals in North Carolina after a federal judge concluded that competition would fare better if the merger advanced. The court order, signed Wednesday by Judge Kenneth D. Bell, clears the way for the $320 million transaction between Novant and Community Health Systems Inc.
