SAN FRANCISCO, CA – After a three-and-a-half-week jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, law firm Paul, Weiss, secured a significant legal victory for Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (“Intuitive”) when Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguin granted the defense’s motion for judgment as a matter of law. The Court found that plaintiff Surgical Instrument Service Company, Inc. (“SIS”) failed to present sufficient evidence to support its claims and ruled in favor of Intuitive, dismissing all allegations that it unlawfully tied the sale and servicing of its da Vinci surgical systems to its EndoWrist instruments. The lawsuit had sought over $420 million in damages.
