Jury Determines Novell Owns UNIX Copyrights

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – SCO Group was unsuccessful in its bid to declare ownership rights to UNIX code, when a federal court determined that Novell was the rightful owner and that SCO had breached its asset-transfer agreement with Novell. The ruling dealt a potentially fatal blow to SCO in its quest to continue its assault on the popular open source operating system.

Partners Michael Jacobs and Eric Acker (Morrison & Foerster) and Sterling Brennan (Workman Nydegger) led the litigation team representing Novell. Thomas S.Y. Lee and Joel DePalma of Impact Trial supported the trial team throughout the trial with invaluable trial technology and litigation graphics and support.
